Compañía Colombiana Automotriz S.A. was a car factory based in Bogotá, Colombia. Founded in the early 1960s as Leonidas Lara e Hijos, that company associated with Fiat in 1973 assuming its current name. They have manufactured various cars under license, including vehicles from Willys Overland, Fiat, and his partners like Zastava, Fiat Polski, and other brands like Peugeot and Mitsubishi.
== History ==
The origins of the Compañia Colombiana Automotriz go back to the 1960s, when Leonidas Lara and his family acquired a warehouse which would become the main headquarters, but was initially known as the plant of assembly for the Willys marketed in Colombia at the time.
Then in 1968 sign a contract with Peugeot for the assembly of vehicles until 1969. In 1973 he signed a contract with Fiat for the assembly of automobiles of their brand and partners. In that year, the sons of Leonidas Lara renamed the company as Compañía Colombiana Automotriz. In 1982, Mazda began to acquire the sharing part from Fiat.
In 1983, they established a partnership with Mazda, who owned until 2014 the 100% of the company; and began the production of it first automobile, the Mazda 323, later took the production of the Mazda B-2000, after in 1984 tooks the production of the Mazda 626. That plant assembled from 1983 until 2014 vehicles like the Mazda Allegro, Mazda 3, Mazda 6, Mazda BT-50 and Ford Ranger twins for the South American market, including its main buyer, Venezuela; which in the first nine months of that year purchased about 12,000 units.
The CCA also joins the Allegro is based on the long generation Mazda Protege. In October 2007 the Venezuelan government imposed a quota of 4,000 CCA vehicles which directly affects the company and that 50% of sales are directed to the Venezuelan market.
This company was formerly responsible for producing at its assembly line, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Ford cars in Colombia until his desaparition by a uncertainly fault in the production from Mazda vehicles in that instalations; caused by a lowest levels of sales for the brand Mazda in Colombia and the build of the Mazda plant in Mexico, that were liquidated and the cars from the Mazda brand are actually imported to Colombia from the Mazda Mexico Company.〔http://colombiareports.co/mazda-stop-making-cars-colombia/〕
